How To Generate Buzz On Social Networks

There are so many social networks around right now to name. And I could not believe the amount of accounts that my buddy has signed up. Sometimes I do wonder how he keep up with all of them, if he did.

Sure social networking is fun and you get to meet nice people and even meet people that you thought that you have lost contact with since high school. But there are more to that. Businesses are using social networking sites to get their “fans” and clients together to talk about them online.

These are generally done online through social networking sites like Facebook, Friendster etc. Things have gone mobile ever since, and I am not just talking about mobile versions of Facebook, Friendster etc. There is a relatively new social network known as FourSquare. It uses GPRS/WiFi and GPS to locate your mobile device and lets you virtually “check-in” at your location. You can then find people around you and leave a comment about your location, say a café for instance.

I know it sounds a little geeky but here is an article about Creating Buzz On Social Networks.

TweetPhoto Gets More Social With Facebook, Twitter, And Foursquare

APLINK says – This is good news for foursquare users and businesses implementing foursquare strategies as currently image uploads are not available.

First launched back in April 2009, TweetPhoto has been steadily building out its service with multiple useful features, including Foursquare integration and a partnership with Kodak. Today, the site is getting a huge overhaul with more social features and a new iPhone app.TweetPhoto has now added the ability to sign in with Twitter OAuth, Facebook Connect, MySpace OAuth and Foursquare OAuth so that a user of any one of these social networks can use TweetPhoto as a stand alone photo sharing service. The site will also be rolling out LinkedIn support in the next few weeks. In addition to login capabilities across all four of these services, TweetPhoto users can also link these social networking accounts together. Once you link your Facebook, Twitter, MySpace , or Foursquare accounts on the site, your photos uploaded to TweetPhoto can be simultaneously broadcast to all of the networks.

foursquare Rapping its way around business

Foursquare popularity is sweeping the world… in a single google alert over 20 mentions where displayed this morning… we know google alert is not perfect so how many more mentions in facebook, twitter, friendfeed etc does foursquare produce.

Of all the alerts this new custom RAP song for foursquare deserves a spot on my blog, are you using foursquare ? if yes how ? Has a social platform finally been green lighted as a business tool as well as being sociable ?

By @borismsilver and @thenewb.

Lyrics:
Mr. Silvas in da building
Checkins by the hundreds, thousands, trillionz

Ayo I know its my first stop
Look at that leaderboard and see me at the top

Bouncin to new places, adding em quick
I know all the TO-DOs and I got all the tips

Show up at the Bar and I check in Right Away
Sent it to my Twitter cuz Im here to stay

Looks like you got ousted welcome to the game
This is Foursquare bitch! Gowalla aint the same!!

Now that Im the mayor, now that Im here
Gimme my free breadsticks AND my cold beer!!

La la la la
How it feel to wake up and be the mayor of the city!
La la la la
Tryina get that Crunked badge, drinkin like P Diddy

[Chorus]

Got a rock like this
Cant use an iPhone, AT&Ts a piece of shhh

No one on the corner had an app on this
So I used my mobile web, wasnt very quick

You can learn where to eat just by checking my feed
Checkin checkin my feed checkin checkin my feed

Follow my lead its the road to success
Never need a reservation, they always say YES

But I cant teach you my swag
You can pay for a coffee but you cant buy a badge

School of social media Imma grad
I hope this hits techcrunch or else Ill be sad

Its Newby
Checkin w/ the groupies eating lotsa sushi

Newwwbyy
Bet you didnt know we could flow like thiiiiis

[Chorus]

Lets talk about the knockoffs, they just imitating
They cant even compare and no were not even hating

Copyin foursquare cuz you lack innovation
How could you turn down Googles valuation?

So let me say it now, let me be clear
Foursquare is the app that all you should fear

Hockey stick growth, all star investors
Lots of passionate users, all beta testers

I add lots of value, Im a superuser
You cant spell your top venues, super abuser

Dont checkin to your house, thats just really lame
Ill snatch up all your badges, call me David Blaine

Your checkins are fake, theres no way those are true
20 stops in one night? IM GONNA CATCH YOU!!

And whats up with all these randos trying to friend me?
Im checked in off the grid like TIGER WOODS B!!!!!

FOURSQUARE – a commercial users perspective

A venue owner shares his perspective of FOURSQUARE going as far to say it has the potential to be the new Twitter – what he seems to have neglected however is that FOURSQUARE can connect with Facebook & twitter – by doing so FOURSQUARE covers its bases and leverages on the 2 most successful social media platforms to date to attrract new users to its platform. – APLINK

ps: I am also trialing brightkite – which I kinda like due to its intergration with images from your mobile device.

Foursquare a new social media application launched last year in March. I have a feeling that Foursquare will grow exponentially in 2010 becoming the new social media hit and let me explain you why.

Foursquare is a location-based social network mobile application that helps you connect with venues and friends using GPS via your mobile device. Foursquare is a win-win situation. It pleases the patrons and the venue owners. In Foursquare there is a social mechanism where people say where they are hanging out or staying and through a built in g ame system it will reward them for doing so, with badges and titles.

The system really empowers the venue owner, it helps identify his customers with their real names ( sometimes it is hard on twitter) and it helps to know who comes in more often. I see it as a technological loyalty system without the cost of it as it all comes integrated in the apps. The application also includes the suggestion’s area with tips and to do list for future people checking in at the same venue..and it also helps the patrons being identified for what they really are i.e.: newbie, local and loyal. Foursquare triggers some sort of respect-benefit for the patrons in the acknowledgement of the title that the patrons have gained through checking in to the venue multiple times. Patrons will also enjoy the shared tips and recommended to do list that other patrons have left for them. To me, as a venue owner, it is a super cool application, and it makes a lot of sense from any point of view.
