Vote for your favourite entrepreneurs, online voting extended to August 15, 2007

Spirit of Enterprise (SOE), the non-profit body that promotes and advances entrepreneurial spirit in Singapore, is pleased to announce that it is extending the online voting by the general public for its Spirit of Enterprise Awards 2007 due to popular public support for the awards.

An online voting system has been made available to the public since July this year for them to cast their votes from a list of 156 nominees. Voters can vote for a minimum of five nominees and a maximum of 42 nominees. To date, 22,180 votes have been received, and these votes will help the SOE Board of Governors decide on the 42 finalists who will be honoured at the awards ceremony on September 26 at the Pan Pacific. The 42 finalists will be announced on August 31.

Details of the 156 nominees and their success stories, which were developed by a team of students from local university, polytechnic, Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and junior colleges, have been posted online via the SOE Web site ( www.soe.org.sg) to enable voters decide who they should be voting for. Through these success stories, the Spirit of Enterprise hopes to inspire and instil a sense of entrepreneurial spirit in the voters.

Spirit of Enterprise awards focuses on honoring and inspiring a wider cross section of entrepreneurs in Singapore. Instead of only honoring highly established entrepreneurs, the Spirit of Enterprise award seeks to recognize budding entrepreneurs who have exhibited much enterprise and spirit in their entrepreneurial pursuits.

Programs covers educating students in entrepreneurship through projects in school and through the interview process with would be honorees of their entrepreneurship journey, thereby inspiring the young minds to think about entrepreneurship.
