Top-10 Economic Predictions for 2008….

From APLINK – Whilst China is mentioned sadly Global Insights is of the mindset that the economy is driven by the US, who agree’s with this, if you disagree

– Let me know why… add your comments below ?….is there room for a virtual economy ?

The U.S. economy is now in the danger zone. GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2007 (0.0%) and first half of 2008 (0.8% in the first quarter and 1.8% in the second quarter) is expected to be very weak. This will make the United States extremely vulnerable to another shock. Furthermore, it is unlikely that the rest of the world will be able to shrug off the expected sharp deceleration in spending by American households. Global Insight currently predicts that world growth will be 3.3% in 2008, compared with 3.7% this year. With the potential for housing crunches in some European economies and a post-Olympics slowdown (or even bust) in China, the risks for the global economy are now overwhelmingly on the downside.

Recruit.net continues to expand, moves in on New Zealand – itsReal

Over 30,000 New Zealand Jobs from Hundreds of Websites in a Single Search: http://NewZealand.recruit.net
New Zealand joins the Asia Pacific Recruit.net network, which lists over 3million jobs
Auckland, New Zealand December 10, 2007 – Recruit.net announced today the launch of a new search engine for New Zealand jobs. In one simple search, the service gives job seekers free access to over 30,000 job opportunities from numerous websites in New Zealand.
Launched in 2006, Recruit.net is the leading search engine for jobs in Asia Pacific, with over 3 million job listings from across the region, including Singapore, Malaysia Japan, India, Australia, China and now New Zealand.
Applauding the announcement on the expansion into the New Zealand market, leading search consultant and HR blogger Mr Steven Kempton stated, “I believe Recruit.net adds a real difference to the NZ job board marketplace. The ability to truly search from one site provides several valuable tools for candidates. “It’s a real winner for candidates but it’s also very positive for employers who can now be confident that it doesn’t matter which board they advertise on it’s possible for candidates to find that job through Recruit.net. Down Tatarah.com.sg website beams smiles BUT someone must be MAD as HELL – itsReal

Sponsors & Management must be MAD as HELL. Amazingly site is still down and new users are confused…apart from the smiles beaming from the site (see pic) there is one simple link to the RESULTS page –

tatarah.com.sg

…Members are MAD – See member post here Tatarah – Huge Dissapointment

(if you visit the above link look for the in-house NuffNang AD – APLINK gave NuffNang some advice recently – NuffNang

So what is really going on… is this another marketing gimmick to get tatarah brand firmly in Singaporeans Minds…Since my last Tatarah post on Oct 31 there must be enough time to add bandwidth. Since then I still see that lavish MRT train ads and as a marketer weep about the lost members they are not able to sign up…yet in the back of my crazy mind I still wonder is this marketing wizardry we are falling prey to… I doubt however that the sponsors think like APLINK…

Come on Tatarah let Singaporeans know what is going on !

coming soon… a recruiter in Social Networks – itsReal

At one time it was about big job boards, but recruiting now is about meeting the candidates where they are…in social networks..

Looking for a new career recruit.net

..Historically, recruiting has not been a particularly transparent process. Organizations looking to hire put a job description out on a Web board such as Monster, CareerBuilder or Dice, and candidates apply on that limited information alone. The vast majority are rejected without ever knowing why. “In effect, corporations are basically screening people out. Candidates don’t feel like they’re being recruited into organizations, or being made to feel wanted,” Zach Thomas, an analyst with Forrester Research, told eWEEK.Though Web 1.0 recruiting technologies such as big job boards and vendor-powered ATS (application tracking systems) on corporate career sites have been effective in increasing efficiency and driving down recruiting costs, in the Web 2.0 world, candidates want more texture in the recruiting process—transparency, unedited content, answers to user-submitted questions and communication that is not only top-down. “It makes the whole process a lot more transparent. It puts the community in control of the information out there, versus the traditional ‘here is the position and we will tell you what it is all about,’ where the candidate can’t ask questions or see for themselves,” Thomas said.Organizations that limit their recruiting efforts to outdated processes will lose out in the long run, Thomas said, as a younger generation of job seekers wants more transparency in the recruiting process. Let’s have a Conversation – Conversational Marketing – itsReal

Spending on social media and “conversational marketing” – albeit still in their nascent stage – will surpass traditional marketing spend by the end of 2012, according to a study conducted by TWI Surveys, Inc., the New Communications Review writes.

The survey of 260 senior PR and marcomms professionals was conducted on behalf of the Society of New Communications Research (SNCR) and Joseph Jaffe for his book Join the Conversation.

Although social-media adoption has just begun – 70% of respondents are spending 2.5% or less of their communications budgets on conversational marketing – those surveyed foresee significant adoption and spending within five years: Some 81% of survey respondents said they will spend at least as much on conversational marketing as traditional marketing by 2012.

Among other findings of the study:

  • Two-thirds of respondents plan to increase their spending on coversational marketing in the next 12 months.
  • 57% say they think that in five years they will be spending more on conversational marketing than traditional marketing
  • Nearly 24% say they think conversational marketing spend will equal traditional marketing spend in five years
