One-Person Business blog

You may be operating a one-person-business, but there are many resources and tools out there that aren’t just for the big guys anymore. Today we’re going to focus on the power behind press releases. Yes, that’s right; even small business’s can achieve phenomenal growth with the proper use of press releases.

Online marketing and PR expert, Barbara Rozgonyi, founder of CoryWestMedia.com and publisher of WiredPRworks.com is a wealth of information, brilliant ideas, and resources for small and large companies alike. I’ve asked Barbara a few questions about how a one-person-business can benefit from press releases. I’ve learned a lot and I hope you will too!

Barbara, the most popular responses I get from clients when I suggest writing press releases are: “What would the press possibly want to know about me or my company?” and “I can’t write!” How would you address those concerns for a one-person-business owner?

Size doesn’t matter. Story does…..

Review: *Personality not included – Rohit Bhargava Part 2 – itsReal

To be quite honest… my last book that I read with anticpation was David Meerman Scotts’s The New Rules of Marketing & PR – since then the hectic reality of Singapore business life made me believe that there is no time to read, how wrong am I. The opportunities to increase and support my belief in social media, web 2.0 & Blogging where driven home after I read David’s book – i would joke with people, have you seen my BIBLE.

Now come’s along Rohit’s *personality not included, it has sat on my spare couch since I went to the evening at Ogilvy’s office in Singapore – the embossed colourful chickens on the front cover trying to tempt me to take a peak. Even the forward by Guy Kawasaki, not enough to break the NOISE from my daily client servicing, to learn something new.

*personality not included, is doing just that, I am learning new things based on real situations. So much so that I am reading the book in cafes, taxis & buses. I have this awesome Accenture Promotional gift which is a highlighter one end and tiny post-it note styled tabs at the other, I am highlighting, Tabbing all i find interesting and “it makes alot of sense” points in Rohit’s book. I am reading it slow- re-reading if I did not get it the first time, I am involved in the book, making sure I understand it completely.

I would urge any blogger that wants to take their new found role in the internet seriously to pick up a copy, I hope to be a more “aspirational” blogger as a result of Rohit’s book…

More to come….

So far, getting Great !

APLINK – itsReal runs past 100,000 hits – itsReal

WOW – for the last week I have been watching my stats and knew the day was coming – overnight this blog swept past the 100,000 hits mark, this achievement took many many months – so my blog crawls behind major news portals or some of the high profile bloggers sites out there, yet to me it really is an awesome success.

I started this blog without understanding then the power that a blog allows someone. It really is your personal window to the world, whether you use your blog to document your life or like me use it as a communication channel for my business and my clients, either way with dedication and interesting content, you will get noticed on the web – and attract like minded people which in my case have become clients, friends and both.

The topics of my blog include, virtual worlds (big-time), social media (so much out there I cover what i can), technology, health, and then whatever i find interesting…which also by the way turns out interesting for my readers….

So this little post is a pat on my back for staying with my blog – if you are considering a blog – best advice is make sure the content is fresh, also find a niche, don’t be afraid to be controversial, it sometimes generates the most hits and be prepared to spend time on your blog it will be well worth it.

Last thought, the more you blog the more you become comfortable in your writing skills. You really do become an expert and your ability to convey your ideas in written form becomes easier – next challenge for me is video posting – watch this blog 🙂

If you were not aware – APLINK means Andrew Peters Link or Asia Pacific Link – throughout social media and virtual worlds platforms search for APLINK and you will most probably find me as a member or contributor – Have a Great Day

Ping.sg Banning continues – itsReal

The BANNING on Ping.sg continues – another long time supporter of Ping.sg gets Banned – I am unsure as to the sense or reason for the Ban but it is becoming a Singapore catastrophe –  the Singapore blogging community whilst  growing , is TINY – alienating bloggers who have supported Ping.sg by contributing online and at physical events is truly astonishing. These supporters have used Word of Mouth to help spread Ping.sg through their own networks whether business of social, it was done freely in the past to grow the Ping.sg community.  Are these same supporters who helped grow Ping.sg not needed any longer, their unselfish raves to people they met about this cool community called Ping.sg a virtual waste of effort…the opportunity to take Ping.sg out of the RED might have been just around the corner. This latest Banning is a mystery….the practice must cease….APLINK

Top-10 Economic predictions for 2008 – Courtesy Global Insights – itsReal

Top-10 Economic Predictions for 2008….

From APLINK – Whilst China is mentioned sadly Global Insights is of the mindset that the economy is driven by the US, who agree’s with this, if you disagree

– Let me know why… add your comments below ?….is there room for a virtual economy ?

The U.S. economy is now in the danger zone. GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2007 (0.0%) and first half of 2008 (0.8% in the first quarter and 1.8% in the second quarter) is expected to be very weak. This will make the United States extremely vulnerable to another shock. Furthermore, it is unlikely that the rest of the world will be able to shrug off the expected sharp deceleration in spending by American households. Global Insight currently predicts that world growth will be 3.3% in 2008, compared with 3.7% this year. With the potential for housing crunches in some European economies and a post-Olympics slowdown (or even bust) in China, the risks for the global economy are now overwhelmingly on the downside.
