One-Person Business blog

You may be operating a one-person-business, but there are many resources and tools out there that aren’t just for the big guys anymore. Today we’re going to focus on the power behind press releases. Yes, that’s right; even small business’s can achieve phenomenal growth with the proper use of press releases.

Online marketing and PR expert, Barbara Rozgonyi, founder of CoryWestMedia.com and publisher of WiredPRworks.com is a wealth of information, brilliant ideas, and resources for small and large companies alike. I’ve asked Barbara a few questions about how a one-person-business can benefit from press releases. I’ve learned a lot and I hope you will too!

Barbara, the most popular responses I get from clients when I suggest writing press releases are: “What would the press possibly want to know about me or my company?” and “I can’t write!” How would you address those concerns for a one-person-business owner?

What’s the best use of marketing time and money: a blog or a site? – itsReal

My Friend Barbara Rozgonyi at Wired PR Works has some interesting advice, advice I am often heard relaying to clients since launching my own blog in October 2006….

Excerpt from post – Stats Weigh In

Hmmmm . . . in my case I’ll pick the blog. I’m thinking of moving my company site onto a blog platform to save:

– time – it’s so much easier to write a blog post that it is to write site copy and then format it, upload it, check it and wait weeks for search engines to add the page to their index

– money – self-hosting a blog costs less than the $19.95 web hosting fee and blog design is mostly do-it-yourself, even the best blog designer charge a much more reasonable fee than graphic designers

Disclaimer: A well-performing web site cannot be replaced by a brand-new blog. If you have a high Google page rank, then you may be better off keeping your site. Be sure to add in an online newsroom or other component that updates your content frequently.

Best of both worlds: add a blog to your site

Reality Show PR: Marketing with Case Studies

Reality Show PR: Marketing with Case Studies..from my PR friend in the US Barbara Roxgonyi..

Take your prospects behind the scenes with client case studies:

all ready and made for marketing..

When clients want to know what you do, invite them into a behind-the-scenes reality show. Giving them a play-by-play of how your business impacts lives gives them a better appreciation of how to work with you. Talking about how you make your client’s lives or businesses better is much easier when you can use a case study. And, having a format makes it even easier.

Here’s how to make your product or service come alive using the S-A-R method.
