Rumours of the impending release of a new Apple tablet computer reached fever pitch this week after months of speculation.The tablet is tipped to be a larger version of the iPhone. It is small enough to carry in a handbag but too big to fit in a pocket.
It will have a touch screen and be targeted at users who mainly want to surf the web, read books and newspapers or watch movies.The Wall Street Journal reported today that, since Apple chief executive Steve Jobs returned from his extended medical leave of absence for a liver transplant, he has been “pouring almost all of his attention” into a new touch-screen gadget….
Munster said he believed the device would be priced between $US500 and $US700 and be capable of running applications from the iTunes App Store. A new category of apps would be created to support the bigger screen.
He predicted Apple would sell 2 million units in the first year to generate $US1.2 billion in revenue.
