* Beijing blocks ‘sensitive’ websites during Olympics
* The IOC knew censorship would be in place
* Amnesty International among those blocked
THE International Olympic Committee has admitted it knew China never planned to lift internet restrictions for journalists covering the Beijing Games, despite promises to the contrary.
Senior IOC officials, including president Jacques Rogge, have previously said journalists visiting China to cover the Olympics would have unimpeded access to the internet.
In an exclusive interview with AFP two weeks ago, Mr Rogge insisted that there would be no censorship of the internet during the Games.
