The U.S. economy is now in the danger zone. GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2007 (0.0%) and first half of 2008 (0.8% in the first quarter and 1.8% in the second quarter) is expected to be very weak. This will make the United States extremely vulnerable to another shock. Furthermore, it is unlikely that the rest of the world will be able to shrug off the expected sharp deceleration in spending by American households. Global Insight currently predicts that world growth will be 3.3% in 2008, compared with 3.7% this year. With the potential for housing crunches in some European economies and a post-Olympics slowdown (or even bust) in China, the risks for the global economy are now overwhelmingly on the downside.

According to the world bank classification, it is the fastest growing economies in the world. In maybe-2020, India will be the top most economy of the world…making England the 2nd…and USA the 3rd…
thats the reality!
India’s GDP is much less than Canada’s with only about 4% of India’s population. India is growing but in order to overtake the USA economy in the next twelve years will take 1500% growth. And that’s supposing the USA has no growth over those years.
Neither scenario is probable.

Depsite the living conditions in India, India and 3rd world countries will overtake US for sure. We rely too much for their production. China and India are going to be next heavy hitters for the economy because of their population, jobs and their consumption of raw goods.

I have worked with several people from India and each was very bright but none was arrogant.
As for the leaving our Country; well lets just say there are very intelligent people from all walks of life, it’s just that our Government has made it easier for Foreigners to get high paying jobs here; more so than it’s Citizens.

Other facts that all of you people who doubt India’s capabilities should know:
-India’s population is usually criticized and blamed for its poverty. But India’s population is going to be the biggest factor in its comeback:
India has a population of 1.147 billion. Out of the 1.147 bil, 540 million people are below the age of 25 years. Which means that India has 540 million young, energetic people. 540 million people that are ambitious, hungry for more, and ready to take over the world. This may sound far fetched to you. But we will see who has the last laugh.
-India is generally considered a poor country. I laugh whenever I hear that. Go to forbes.com and check the list of the worlds richest people. Out of the 10 richest people in the world, 4 are Indian. Only 2 are American.
-India’s 40 richest people have a combined net worth greater than China’s 400 richest people.
-The worlds second most expensive home has an asking price of approximately 200 million dollars. It is in USA. The owners have been trying to sell it for 3 years now. The worlds most expensive home was recently created by Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani in Mumbai at a price of 2 billion dollars.
-India has been the second fastest growing country for the past half decade. India is behind China in terms of economic growth but consider the fact that India is a democracy. China is not.In fact, India is the largest democracy in the world. This is what will give India an edge over China in the future.
-A funny fact. A lot of people in USA criticize the outsourcing that is done to India. When Americans dial 1-800, the call usually picked up by someone in India. Americans say that the people on the other end of the line are usually stupid. But get this. I have friends who have worked in call centers. This is what they are taught during training for their job: 12=22. ie. the IQ of a 12 year old Indian is equal to the IQ of a 22 year old american. This is what I think. The americans think indian call center representatives are stupid only because they are not completely apt at understanding american accent english. This creates a lot of misunderstanding. I am a student studying in Rochester, NY. I know Indian people and I know American people too. In India, I my intelligence level was considered average. Here in USA, I can do calculations and solve problems in my mind in half the time that it takes most American students to do them with a calculator. My teachers preach me.
My last two favorite facts:
-We have achieved all of these things in 61 years. (India gained independence in 1947)
-Alexander the great conquered half the world and never lost a battle. Then he came to India. About 2 months later, He headed back to Macedonia after losing most of his army. he decided never to attack another country again.

Every one is suffering in this economic crisis whether you be American, India or Chinese and so on. What is the back lash of discrimination has nothing to do with what is going on here. The whole of the economy is going down in the hell hole. Everyone alike is losing jobs, their homes, their lives that people tried to built hard for. As for the Americans Shail makes a point America was built off immigrants back if you read your history properly. By the way I am proud to say I am Canadian but I am originally a immigrant of Vietnam. Nobody can say they are straight anything everyone has some mix along the lines in their ancestory.
Every one is in dire straights one form or another the and every country around the world is being hit not just the Americans. Whether your country wants to help stimulate the economy is a different matter. Foreclosure is up, housing sales are down, unemployment rates are through the roof, wall street and stocks are down the crapper, banks refuse to lend money and companies and people alike are going bankrupct. All around it looks bleak and history is repeating itself and it all stems from greed. No one seems to have learned about the past mistakes and we continue to make them. Prediction wise is if they don’t smarten up and learn the economy will continue to slide. The only bright side is what goes up must come down and once they hit the bottom of the barrel there is no where to go but up. Well the economy hasn’t hit the bottom barrel yet and will continue a downword spiral into the end of this year.
I am a proud Indian too, but I don’t believe in all these blame games. We are not having a competition here to find out which is the best country. This is the time to help each other out and make sure our children have a better future. So, lets all hope for the best and start contributing towards a common goal.

Yes, I agree with Shail. India is a powerhouse filled with potential. There is indeed no force that can stop it from becoming a superpower.
I think its so funny when immigrants come to our country and wave their flag and tell everyone how great their country is……but wait a sec….theres a reason you ppl came to this country. YOUR country is a dump and has absolutely no employment oppertuntities, and looking at the millions of homeless ppl in India I’d say your government could care less about its own ppl. If you live in USA or Canada then you wave that flag because those are the countries that gave you a chance to become someone.
